Keith Goddard: Non-fiction editor

What makes me an effective editor?

  • I have over 10 years of experience as a freelance editor.

  • I have an editing certificate from Simon Fraser University.

  • I am a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA).

  • I can take your text and make sure it is understandable to your audience.

  • I have additional editing training from the University of Chicago.

  • I have a master’s degree from York University.

  • I can reduce your word count without losing or diluting your message.

  • I am constantly upgrading my editing skills with courses, webinars, and readings.

  • I was the editor-in-chief of Editors Toronto’s blog BoldFace from 2022 to 2024.

I enjoy baseball and coffee shops but rarely mix the two: I never watch baseball while in a cafe and rarely drink coffee at a game. Though I support the Jays (2025 World Series runners-up), Pittsburgh does have a beautiful stadium.

I served as editor-in-chief of Editors Toronto’s blog for two years (2022–2024). I got to work with a lot of talented editors and writers. Nice ones too.
