Curriculum and textbook editor
Textbook editor
As a former teacher, I can edit your textbooks to make sure the activities are relevant and bias-free, and the information is clear, concise, and correct. I will also ensure the material is relevant and engaging for a wide range of learners from a variety of backgrounds, and that it is written at the intended reading level.
I have used educational materials in the classroom and have seen what makes some effective and others ineffective. I have several years experience teaching grades six to nine, and have also taught kindergarten to grade 12 at various points in my career. Let’s discuss your editing needs.
Curriculum editor
Extensive experience with grade 6–9 curriculum
As a former educator, I have extensive experience with the Ontario grade six to grade nine curriculum in many subject areas (e.g., math, reading, writing, history & geography, social studies, and ESL).
An effective curriculum is clear and concise
I know the importance of having curriculum materials that are clear, concise, and free of jargon so that teachers can implement the curriculum into their lessons effectively. Having worked with many teachers and created countless lesson plans, I understand the importance of plain language for effective communication.
I also have experience reducing the word count in many documents so that they are distilled down to their essential ingredients without losing any necessary content.
My teaching credentials
I was an Ontario-certified teacher (OCT) for over 20 years, qualified to teach junior, intermediate, and senior grade levels. I have specialized teacher training in ESL (English as a Second Language), special education, math, and music. I have also been certified to teach adult ESL (TESL Ontario). I don’t just have the training—I have years of experience teaching in all of the above subject areas.
Knowledge of education initiatives
Besides being familiar with various curriculum guidelines, I am also knowledgeable of many education initiatives and practices, such as:
assessment (for, of, and as learning): (Growing Success)
differentiated instruction
